Questions and answers

Short answers to what viewers ask us most often: about the show, the dogs, support and your videos.

About the show

What is Sunday Puppy Jay?

A comedy talk show hosted by a dachshund. Every episode is a new adventure for Puppy Jay: at home, in the studio or in worlds we build in Unreal Engine. Reporter Vicky Licky covers the chaos, and a whole town of characters, Hollywoof, can’t keep quiet. New here? Start with any episode — you can’t get lost.

Are the dogs real?

Of course! Puppy Jay and Doxie Din are real dachshunds: they live with us and star in every episode. It’s not AI, if that’s what you mean. Everything else — the voices, scripts, sets and editing — we do ourselves too, and we show how in special behind-the-scenes episodes.

Who makes the show?

First of all, our stars, Puppy Jay and Doxie Din: without their acting talent and charisma there would be nothing. Helping them are three people: Ilia Smirnov — directing, camera, editing and compositing; Irina Meshcheriakova — handling and photography; Dmitrii Galasiuk — scripts, the Unreal Engine worlds and color.

What languages is the show in?

Our first show, Doxie Din Show, was silent — the whole world understood it without any language. The new show is in English, and we keep dubbing it into Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish. Subtitles in other languages are available on the day an episode comes out. The site is in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian, with a full transcript of every episode.

Where can I watch the episodes?

On YouTube, on the channel Doxie Din — not just a dachshund. And on this site every episode has its own page: a description, chapters and a full transcript — plus a “Watch” button that takes you to YouTube.

When do new episodes come out?

New episodes of Sunday Puppy Jay come out on Sundays. Between seasons the channel runs compilations and Pawcast episodes. We announce premiere dates on the channel and on the site’s home page, and supporters get episodes in early access.

What is the Pawcast?

It’s like a podcast, only better, because the host is Puppy Jay himself! In these episodes he talks with vets, experts and well-known guests, and runs investigative stories on topics dog owners care about — and not only them. Every episode comes with a full transcript.

What happened to Doxie Din Show?

It’s the series we started with: a silent comedy, 210 episodes in six seasons, a Webby Award in 2023. Ending it hurt a lot. But we decided it was time for Doxie Din to retire and enjoy his golden years, and for us to move on. We couldn’t imagine the show without him, so we closed it and made something new, nothing like what came before. All the episodes stay on the site and on YouTube.

What awards has the show won?

The Webby Award 2023 (winner, Social: Animals) and Webby Honoree 2025, plus many film festival awards. And we’re not stopping here: we’re sure the biggest awards are still ahead!

Where are you based?

We live in Montenegro now — Southern Europe, on the Adriatic coast. Paradise on Earth, honestly!

Puppy Jay answers

Answers by Puppy Jay himself.

Is Doxie Din Puppy Jay’s dad?

No, he’s my big brother. Not even by blood… I only recently found out I’m adopted. But I adore him anyway: he taught me everything I know!

How old are you? And Doxie Din?

I, Puppy Jay, was born on June 25, 2020, and Doxie Din on January 28, 2010. Do the math yourself — numbers aren’t my thing, I’m an arts dog!

Is Puppy Jay your full name?

To everyone I’m Puppy Jay. Doxie Din insists my full name is Doxie Din Junior. My passport says otherwise, but there’s no arguing with him.

Why do you still look like a puppy?

One day scientists will answer that… but it won’t be easy! Personally, I think it’s because I just don’t want to grow up.

Do you bark at other dogs?

Well… sometimes. I’m a COVID puppy: I learned about life while everyone was stuck at home, so I never really got to know other dogs. We’re working on it.

When did your training and teeth brushing start?

I came home at three months old, and lessons started on day two — I’m smart, I picked things up fast. Teeth brushing started once my baby teeth were gone. More about teeth from our vet dentist on the Pawcast.

Will there be a third dachshund?

No. A puppy needs all the attention, and all the attention in this house is already mine.

Should I get a second dachshund?

If you’re not sure — then no. Daddy always says you should get a dog, especially a second one, only when you realize you simply can’t live otherwise. Daddy is usually wrong, but I don’t think this is one of those times.

Do you have a girlfriend?

No… I’m still too young. Career first, you know… But there is one dachshund I like. She just lives very far away, in Canada…

Favorite toy?

Snowmen. Always snowmen. We even have a great video about it!

Favorite episode?

I think everyone on the team has their own favorite, but if you average it out, it’s our pirate episode. I adore it!

Do you type this yourself?

Of course. Hitting the keys with paws isn’t easy, so the typos are mine too.

What annoys you the most?

When you try to convince your parents you’ve never been fed in your life — and they don’t fall for it!

Support

Why does the show need supporters?

Every episode is weeks of work: script, training, filming, sets in Unreal Engine, editing, dubbing. We don’t release videos often and always stick to “quality over quantity” — and YouTube monetization alone, sadly, doesn’t cover it. So the show lives on viewer support.

What’s the difference between Patreon and YouTube membership?

Patreon starts at $5 a month, and more of the money reaches the show than through other platforms. YouTube membership also starts at $5 — one click, right where you watch; the perks are the same as on Patreon, except the chat. Pick whichever is easier for you: early access to new episodes comes with both.

What do supporters get?

Early access to new episodes — on every platform. On Patreon there are also ad-free videos, extra videos outside the show, a recorded dog-fitness masterclass from our trainer and a chat with Puppy Jay, and from the Top Patron tier up, your name in the description and in the videos themselves on YouTube. On YouTube it’s the same minus the chat, plus a member badge. And at The Ultimate Patron tier your name gets carved right into the set: look closely at the beam in the ship’s hold. The full list by tier is on Patreon and YouTube.

Can I gift a membership?

Yes, and it makes a great gift! On Patreon, go to the gift page: pick a tier and a length from one month to a year, pay, and send the recipient the link (they’ll need a Patreon account and have 90 days to claim it). On YouTube, sadly, you can’t gift a membership to a specific person.

How do I change my tier or cancel?

In your account settings on the platform you joined through: on Patreon it’s the Memberships section, on YouTube it’s Purchases and memberships. Cancellation takes effect from the next payment; the month you’ve paid for stays yours. And thank you for having been with us!

How do I get my name into an episode?

Your name in the description and in the videos themselves — for Patreon supporters at the Top Patron tier and up. Your name in the set — at The Ultimate Patron tier. And Puppy Jay thanks new supporters by name in the next episode.

Can I help without paying?

Of course! Watch episodes to the end, like them, leave comments, share them with friends and send us videos of your pets. To YouTube, all of that is a signal that the show is worth showing to others.

I want to help just once, without a subscription

Leave a tip via PayPal — the link is on the Support page. Or drop by the shop: a T-shirt or the guide helps too.

For viewers

How do I send you my video?

Through the Send us your video form. We show the best clips at the end of Sunday Puppy Jay episodes, in the Fan Love segment. Please read the rules before sending — they’re short.

Can I use footage from the show?

No. We license our photos and videos through stock agencies, and that’s a large part of our income. If our videos get used for free, we’ll soon have nothing to eat, and the show will definitely stop. Need some of our videos or photos? Write to us and we’ll agree on a license.

Where can I buy merch and the guide?

On the Shop page: T-shirts with Doxie Din and Puppy Jay and our guide “Secrets to Successfully Raising a Puppy”. Each card says where the item is sold.

How do I contact you?

Write to woof@puppyjay.me — we read everything. We reply in English and Russian.

Press and brands

I’m a journalist. Where are the facts and photos?

On the Press page: a short description, key figures, how to spell the names and who’s on the team. For high-resolution photos and answers to your questions, write to Ilia Smirnov at woof@puppyjay.me.

We’re a brand. How can we work together?

Write to woof@puppyjay.me with the subject “Partnership”: what the product is and what format you have in mind. If the product is interesting, we can build a whole episode around it.

Can I show an episode at a school or an event?

Yes — free screenings from YouTube with no ticket sales are welcome. If you’d like to run a paid event, better write to us first: we could team up and make it something like a meetup. Our inbox is always open.
